Being a writer, mostly known in Texas, my book, “Spirit Keeper: Identity” a mystery/romance/paranormal novel for Young Adults is staged in Texas, my home state. My heroine, Abby Je Louangé Vérité Manning, whose middle names mean, “I praise truth” and a large port wine stain on the left side of her face, sits by a stream envisioning the birthmark not being there. In this portrait, she wears her favorite color, blue and her hair pulled over to the right side unafraid of revealing her left side in the daydream because the mark is not there. The evening sunlight reflects through her long hair, which she calls her ‘security locks’. In the novel, she overcomes the crippling words and physical abuse received because of the birthmark to becoming an award-winning artist. She learns her identity and her purpose.
