Bullying, A Dream Killer

As defined in the dictionary, bullying is the use of force, threat, or coercion to abuse, intimidate, or aggressively dominate others. The behavior is often repeated and habitual. The different contexts are: Cyberbullying, disability bullying, gay bullying, legal bullying, military bullying, parental bullying, prison bullying, school bullying, sexual bullying, trans bullying, and workplace bullying.

Innocence. Where has it gone? Does it feel as though it’s erased by insensitivity or killed by lack of compassion. Bullying is a vehicle of fear that consumes and destroys. Though there are many reasons for fear and the loss of innocence to be born into society, bullying is the most used, easy assessable, painful, deadly tool that leads to destroying lives and dreams. Have we forgotten the golden rule? It says, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Have we forgotten the golden rule? It says, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” The meaning of these words has fallen to deaf ears far too long. If a person looks a certain way, sounds and moves differently than you, should he be shamed, harassed, bullied, made to feel inferior? Would we like it if that were to happen to us? What makes this world so great is that we are all different. Our diversity should be appreciated with acts of kindness.

Remembering our emotional and painful past created by being bullied sometimes may lead us down two different paths. Those memories sometimes seem to stick with us. Even though it’s a painful memory, it becomes the force that drives us to excel in life fulfilling our destiny. On the other hand, for some, that same painful memories can become so intense that it stops you in your tracks, enabling you to move forward. Sometimes it creates a pain you think you cannot bear. You feel the only way out is the unthinkable. On that path, there is the feeling of no hope. How many of you have been made to feel this way by a bully? Please share your experiences with us.
