Are Believers Free From Catastrophe?

No. Though my heroine, hero and me were believers, we still had to go through the pain and anguish of being bullied. Each of us prayed in our own way, and just when we were about to give up, our prayers were answered. Our catastrophes ended when one person intervened. There’s a saying that says, “God is always on time.”

We ask ourselves, why? Is it because we didn’t act the way they wanted us to? Or maybe it is because we looked different. The way we speak or dress is different. My heroine has a facial port wine stain that covered the left side of her forehead. She’d never had trouble with her birthmark until the person who kidnapped her bullied or brainwashed her into believing it was evil; a “cursed mark of Cain.” Suffering from PTSD, and unable to remember, every time she sees her mark, something inside of her tells her, she is evil, not good enough. Words do hurt. She covers her mark with her hair, she calls “security locks.” But, it was her faith that kept her going. She wasn’t giving up. Giving up is not an option.

To anyone who maybe bullied for just being yourself, speak up. Tell your parents, a relative, your teacher, and anyone trustworthy who will listen and take the next step to help you.  If there is anyone who can share an experience of how someone helped them, please share. There maybe someone reading this post that may benefit by your sharing. Peace and love. I’m out.

  • When I was a babe in Christ, I used to think so. I thought if I sought the Lord and followed His commandments, I was somehow immune to difficult situations. But I realized along my maturing journey that this is simply not so. However, one thing that is for certain: we are never alone while going through a storm. God promises His children He will never leave us or forsake us. We have a Comforter who gives us guidance as we go through them. For this I can rest assured by faith.

Thanks for your meaningful comment to “Are Believers Free From Catastrophe?” I agree that with growth in our understanding of what it means to be a believer, we see how God works out whatever problem we may have. His promises are faithful and true. Thank you.
